The Right to Relief
"We affirm the fundamental right of every individual to live a life free from the constraints of pain, a journey that, while challenging, is replete with hope and possibility."
The Core Insight
Somewhere along the way, a lot of people quietly absorb the idea that living with pain is simply the price of admission — that asking for real relief is asking for too much, or that they should be able to push through on willpower alone. This protocol starts from a different premise: living free from the constraints of pain isn't an indulgence, it's a fundamental right, and pursuing it seriously is not weakness. That doesn't mean every form of pain can be eliminated entirely — some of what's ahead in this book is about managing pain that doesn't fully go away. But it does mean you're allowed to treat your own relief as worth real effort, real conversations with providers, and real experimentation with what actually works for you. The journey is described honestly as challenging — nobody is promising an easy fix — but also as "replete with hope and possibility." Both things are true at once, and today is about letting yourself believe the second half as much as the first.
